The programme will develop an excellent knowledge of Environmental Engineering and Environmental Management. Specialisation studies are focused on Renewable Energy Engineering and Water resource Management. As an Environmental Engineer graduated student will have responsibility for overall management of environmental issues, with the skills to operate and communicate internationally.
The curriculum consists of study modules listed above. For each study module has been pointed out specified learning outcomes:
- Integration to Metropolia and helps to build Environmental Engineering student’s identity
- Practical environmental engineering tools and applications
- Integrated Environmental Management and Safety
- Environmental engineer's advanced industrial process applications
- Designing sustanaible build society
- Innovation project
- Language studies
- Electuve study modules
- Workplacement
- Bachelor's thesis
Specialisations:
- Specialisation on renewable energy
- Water resource management
A range of career paths are available for Environmental Engineers and work opportunities exist in various areas of the field, such as Design Engineering, Environmental Management, Quality Engineering, Process Engineering, and Environmental Consulting as well as providing environmental expertise in other areas.
A graduate is eligible to apply for Master's Degree studies in a university after completing the first-cycle polytechnic degree. Special arrangements apply to application for Master-level studies in a university of applied sciences as there is a requirement of three years of work experience after completion of a bachelor-level degree.
Course assessment criteria are specified in the course implementation plan. The teacher in charge of the course will be responsible for the assessment. Students must be informed at the beginning of the course on the assessment principles, which must be based on the course objectives.
Assessment takes primarily place for each course and applies to the students who have registered and been accepted on the course. If necessary, different components of a course may be assessed individually. If the course consists of several components, the teacher may point this out in the assessment principles contained in the implementation plan.
Each course assessed using grading 0-5. Grade 0 = fail and grades 1-5 = pass. The assessment criteria are presented in each course description and the actual assessment methods depend on the teacher of the course.
A student is eligible to graduate when he/she has completed all the required courses set for the degree as a present student (extent 240 ECTS credits).
Studies are implemented as courses, course modules or projects. Studies include contact teaching and self-study. Studies aiming towards a degree are implemented as full-time studies.
